Gone are the days when gay couples would seek tolerance from others. Now they demand we make cake for their wedding. The Supreme Court today ruled in favor of a Colorado baker who refused to bake a cake for a same sex couple.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, who wrote the decision, said, ““The Civil Rights Commission’s treatment of his case has some elements of a clear and impermissible hostility toward the sincere religious beliefs that motivated his objection.”

“The outcome of cases like this in other circumstances must await further elaboration in the courts, in the context of recognizing that these disputes must be resolved with tolerance, without undue disrespect to sincere religious beliefs, and without subjecting gay persons to indignities when they seek goods and services in an open market.”

‘Sincere religious beliefs that motivated his objection’:   The gay community made our society believe that any one who refuses to honor their unions is a bigot and homophobe by default. Christian religion teaches marriage should only between a male and a female. It’s not bigotry. You can still love a homosexual while adhering to this belief and practice.

As Justice Kennedy said, ‘it is an open market’. If someone refuses to provide you a service based on his or her religious beliefs, you can go to the next business. All you need is to make a phone call in advance. It is like abortion. You cannot force a medical professional to provide you an abortion when the medical profession holds a sincere belief that providing abortion is tantamount to killing an unborn person. You cannot force a Muslim to serve you a pork sandwich when it violates his religious freedom because it violates his religious convictions that forbid eating pork. You cannot force a Hindu to make lamb curry when it violates his religious freedom which involves adhering to vegetarianism.

Religious freedom won this day. Have a nice day!
