Jesus heals the bleeding woman

Biblical vector illustration series. Jesus heals the bleeding woman

He (Jesus) said to her, Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.

Mark 5: 34.

For twelve years this woman had been suffering from chronic bleeding. In her distress she had consulted one doctor after another and tried out many remedies. She had spent all her money on them, but not been cured. On the contrary, her suffering had worsened. Then she heard of Jesus, who called on people to turn to God and who had already healed so many sick persons. Now He was nearby. So she set out, probably thinking, “If He has helped others, then He will be able to help me, too.”

As she approached Him, the woman noticed a large crowd thronging round Him. She fought her way through to Him. Then she stretched out her hand and touched His garment, firmly convinced that that would be sufficient to be cured. She did not consider how it might happen; she simply trusted the Son of God and His power. And so it turned out! She had hardly touched His garment, and she was healed.

Relieved, she tried to withdraw furtively. But Jesus turned round and asked, “Who touched me?” The woman sensed that she could not remain undiscovered and owned up. She fell at His feet and told Him her entire sad story. Then she heard those merciful words: “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your affliction”.

She had understood that Jesus was not some prophet or wonder doctor, but the Son of God who had the power to heal her. Her trouble drew her to Him; and faith gave her the courage to actually go to Him.
