Why do the wicked despise God? He has said in his heart, You will not require an account.
Psalm 10:13.
It seems as if mankind can deal with Almighty God just as he wishes. Some deny His existence, and nothing happens. Others attack the Bible, God’s holy Word. They criticize it, declare its pronouncements outdated and invalid or distort its meaning. Another group mocks Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and the work He accomplished at the cross. They even dare to make films of the holy life He dedicated to God or misuse His holy Name. And God remains silent.
When Jesus lived here on earth, it was no different. People treated Him as they wished. They mocked Him, became violent and finally succeeded in getting Him sentenced to death, although the judge, Pontius Pilate, was convinced of His innocence.
Why does God put up with such things? Because He loves His creature despite all this wickedness, not wishing that any should be lost, but be aware of their sins and then repent of them and confess their guilt. That is why He has borne with their sinful behaviour up to the present. His patience is for your benefit.
But it will not always remain so. God has appointed a day when He will break His silence. His patience will be exhausted. He will call people to account. And then the Saviour who has always been rejected will be the Judge, for God has given all judgment over to Him. Then God will have the last word.
