The Blood of Jesus

I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, and like a cloud, your sins.

Isaiah 44:22.

You have surely observed storm clouds being driven away by the wind. Where there was once darkness and a depressing scene, blue sky and sunrays re-appear. Perhaps you wish something similar might occur in your life. God tells us that it is possible! He Himself wishes to bring it about: “I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, and like a cloud, your sins.”

If we consider these words, it becomes clear that sin has caused sheer darkness in our life. The Bible tells us how decisively sin has left its mark not merely on our life but also on the future of mankind: “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Because of our sins we deserve eternal perdition; but God offers to “blot out” our sins and grant us His gracious gift: eternal life.

How can God do so? His own Son underwent the death of the cross for us: “God demonstrates his own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Christ shed His atoning blood that can cancel out all our sins.: “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

In virtue of the blood of Jesus Christ God can blot out your sins, so that you can spend a “cloudless” eternity with Him. He will do so, if you turn to Him, confessing your sins. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
