How can a man be righteous before God?
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Job 9:2; Romans 3:24.
“There is none righteous, no, not one” the Bible states (Romans 3:10). Yet God says, “Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous” (Psalm 97:12). Where do these righteous people come from? Is it possible that an unrighteous person can become righteous before God? It is indeed – through the blood of Christ, who died for our sins.
What must we do to become righteous before God? Simply believe on Jesus Christ, whom God sent into the world as the Redeemer. (Read Romans 5:8.9; 1 Corinthians 15:3). “By grace you have been saved” (Ephesians 2:8). It is God’s outstretched hand that offers the sinner forgiveness free of charge. But the verse continues: “through faith”. That is the hand of those who take hold of the offer.
Do I need grace? Certainly! For God says, “There is no difference, for all have sinned “ (Romans 3:22.23). God created the way for sinners to be forgiven and thoroughly cleansed: Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God bore the judgment vicariously on the cross for every believer, so that each one can be pronounced free, who claims His work of atonement for himself. “Having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1). “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
