The horoscope

Biblical illustration of Book of Exodus Chapter 28

Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.

Leviticus 19:31.

A declaration issued by an astronomical society stated: “What appears today under the heading of astrology is a mixture of superstition, pretence and money-making.” Genuine scientists of the field of astronomy cannot be believed factually.

All the same, the horoscope still has a huge following with its claim to be able to foretell our future simply by the position of the stars. Popular newspapers are apparently compelled to publish it daily. Are its readers simply indulging in a harmless pastime? On no account! According to the Bible this superstition is not just a sign of stupidity, gullibility and a lack of knowledge. It involves exposing oneself to devilish powers. It should therefore be avoided. It is treacherous like a spider’s web. Once caught in it, even if only for fun, the entanglement becomes overpowering.

How can one escape from this dangerous trap? Where is the way to freedom? First we must recognize that we cannot free ourselves. No-one is strong enough to combat this world’s powers of darkness. The only One with the power to do so is the Victor of Calvary, Jesus Christ. He, the Son of God, conquered the devil at the cross. and everyone can claim His victory for himself personally. If we confess our sins and compulsive habits before the Lord Jesus, He will forgive us and grant us the strength to begin a new life with Him and say not to sin.
