The Living Word

Open Bible with beautiful sunset

The word of the Lord endures for ever.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away.

1 Peter 1: 25; Mark 13:31.

The Bible is not one of many religious books. It is a unique work, by means of which God speaks to us. It is the foundation of the Christian faith. It is the book of the past, the present and the future, a permanent work that will never be outmoded, a rich, profound book that can be read dozens of times without ever being exhausted. No other work of literature can be compared to the Bible. Forty different writers compiled it, but it had a single Author: God. It is not the expression of the thoughts of human beings, but “holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:21).

In the Bible God explains why mankind can no longer communicate nor have a relationship with Him. He also tells us how we can re-instate this lost condition. The Bible is the message of the love of God, who wishes to establish a new, living and eternal relationship with mankind. Reading the Bible and believing what God says effectively opens up the way to Him. Such is the Word of God, living, active and heart-searching.

Among other things, it answers two important questions: What causes man in some way or other to live in rebellion against God? It is his claim to be able to live without Him. In a word: sin. How can one find the joy of living with Him? Through Jesus Christ who came to earth to deliver everyone who believes in Him from that sinful state and draw him to His Father.
