I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.
Romans 1:16.
Let us enumerate some of the things the gospel of the grace of God gives us, if we receive it by faith: Forgiveness. This concerns our guilt. It is wiped out, and our conscience relieved. God will never call us to account for our sins. so we can say with David: “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered” (Psalm 32:1).
Justification. This concerns us ourselves, who were once guilty. God no longer accuses us of our sins, but pronounces us righteous. Our standing before Him is as if we had never sinned. “We are “justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24).
Liberation. Before our conversion we were “slaves of sin”. We were ruled by our lusts. But through faith in the Lord Jesus we were freed from the power of sin. The compulsion to sin was broken. In the power of the Holy Spirit we are now in a position to ignore the demands of sin and live to glorify God.
Reconciliation. We were once enemies of God. Through our rebellion estrangement arose between ourselves and God, although He was never our enemy. Through the death of His Son, we have been reconciled with Him. Our separation from God has been cancelled, and our relationship with Him is marked by peace.
