God Friended Me

Next week is the premiere of CBS’ God Friended Me, a comedy television show. It’s website says, “It centers on Miles (Hall), an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside down when he is friended by God on Facebook.”

This shows how low our generation has fallen. It’s blasphemous acts are becoming more brazen. Making a comedy surrounding God shows that our generation has no seriousness about the matters of eternal significance like salvation.

The Creator of the universe speaks on his terms, not ours. He has spoken to us through creation, moral law and finally through Lord Jesus Christ. Obviously that is not enough for today’s generation. They want God friending them through Facebook.

In Luke 16, our Lord tells us about a rich man in hell who pleads with Abraham to send some one to his earthly house to witness to his five brothers. Then, Abraham says to rich man, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.‘ Rich man responds, ‘No, father Abraham, but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

Abraham says to the rich man, ‘If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Moses and prophets means the Bible, the Word of God. The point of this parable is, If Bible does not convince you and convict you, nothing will. God is definitely not going to send you a Facebook request. He speaks through His Word. If you listen, He is willing to become your friend. May God have mercy on us!
