Franklin Graham calls out on Buttigieg’s homosexuality

Mayor Buttigieg, who is running for US President, calls himself as a gay Christian. He has been calling out evangelical Christians like US Vice President Mike Pence for not believing in homosexual ‘marriage’. Franklin Graham tweeted this:

“Mayor Buttigieg says he’s a gay Christian. As a Christian I believe the Bible which defines homosexuality as sin, something to be repentant of, not something to be flaunted, praised or politicized. The Bible says marriage is between a man & a woman—not two men, not two women.”

Sadly, there is a lot of confusion on this matter: Homosexuality and the Bible. Since the birth of Judaism, and later of Christianity till the 1960s, Judeo-Christian tradition looked at homosexuality as an abomination. However, like every sin, it is forgivable because Lord Jesus paid for all sins when He died for the sinners on the cross.

Let us turn to 1 Corinthians chapter 6, verses 9-11 for some clarification.

9. Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Be not deceived: Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

10. nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners shall inherit the Kingdom of God.

11. And such were some of you. But ye are washed, ye are sanctified, ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

In verse 9, ‘the abusers of themselves with mankind’ refers to homosexuals. The Bible is clear that they cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. The term ‘Gay Christian’ is an oxymoron because no gay person can become a Christian unless they confess their sin of homosexuality and abandon it for the glory of God. We have people who call themselves Christian Atheists. Christian atheist? That is another oxymoron. You cannot become a Christian unless you believe there is a God and He revealed to us as a Jewish gentleman, Jesus of Nazareth. But any thing goes in our culture that abandoned the Word of God.

But there is good news in verse 11: And such were some of you. But ye are washed, ye are sanctified, ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

Our loving God loves all sinners including homosexuals. He wants to clean us, sanctify us and justify us in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Buttigieg looks like a nice gentleman. Let us hope and pray that he realizes the sinfulness of homosexuality, confess it, get washed by the blood of Lord Jesus Christ and become a true follower of God.

Jesus asked, “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36,37).

Buttigieg could become US President in the near future but he will lose his soul if does not confess his sins and get saved before it is too late.

Is Homosexuality a Determined Trait or Choice?

One question that burns in the center in this whole debate about homosexuality is: Is homosexuality a choice? As human beings, we are both determined and have free will. This is true in sexual matters too: We are both determined and have free will. I am a male. That is determined. As I grew up, my sexuality also matured. I have no control on the maturation of my sexuality, the amount of testosterone I produce or the sexual instincts. Those are determined and beyond my control. Having said that, I cannot mess with any woman I am attracted to. I might be tempted to touch my secretary. Then I should exercise free will and not yield to that temptation. I might be tempted to look at my neighbor’s wife lustfully. Then I should exercise free will and not sin with my eyes. You see I am both determined and have free will. It is not just a matter of consent. Even if my secretary consents to engage with me sexually, even if my neighbor’s wife agrees to sleep with me, I should not involve in those sins. Because God says both fornication and adultery are sins. These are heterosexual relationships which God says are sinful and will be judged when we stand before Him.

Homosexuality is no different. A person could be determined to some extent to be a homosexual. He or she might be drawn to a person of same sex. They might not have any control on their body’s homosexual attractions. Every bout of testosterone surge might give them a hunger for another male. Then, free will should kick in. Because God says homosexuality is sinful, they should see their homosexual affections like God sees them. They should ask God for help. Resisting a cute secretary is not easy but God will help us if we see it as a sin and ask him for help. In the same way, God will help individuals with homosexual desires to resist that temptation.

Christian leaders should speak the truth in love rather than bashing homosexuals through self-righteous tirades.

Donald Trump versus Buttigieg

Secular media is angry that Christians are not calling out the sins of Donald Trump. Trump cheated on his first wife while having an affair with his would-be second wife, then later cheated on his second wife while having an affair with his would-be third wife, and later cheated on his third wife while having affairs with porn stars……

Probably Trump would not know how many women he slept with during his long life of fornication and adulterous debauchery.

God’s standards are the same for both Trump and Buttigieg. Both are committing grievous sins in the sight of God, one as a heterosexual and another as a homosexual. The hell for heterosexuals is no cooler than the one for homosexuals. Both need repentance and forgiveness. Both should come to Jesus, confess their sins and ask Him for forgiveness.

There is an excellent message by John MacArthur on this topic. If you want to understand what the Bible teaches on homosexuality, please read this article:
