Welcome back to Defenders Voice. This is Paul Kattupalli. Today I am going to talk about two women ruling the news cycles. Beth Moore and Meghan Markle.
What I am going to say will disturb and offend many people. But I can’t help. I don’t care what people think. I care about what the Bible teaches on these matters. Prophet Jeremiah taught 6 centuries before Christ, to the people of Israel. Most people did not listen to him. He was rebuked and vilified. I am like Prophet Jeremiah in our time. Most people may not like what I say. That’s ok.
Beth Moore left the Southern Baptist Convention. Meghan Markle left the British Royal Palace. Why are you leaving? Beth Moore said, “because Southern Baptist Convention is aligning itself with Donald Trump, it is not doing enough to stop sexual abuse’.
Ok, let us go to Meghan Markle. Meghan Markle, why did you leave the British Royal Palace and moved 5000 miles to California? Meghan replies, “Because the Royal family is all about white supremacy and racism. They made me cry. I even thought of committing suicide.”
Beth Moore and Meghan Markle…both said they are leaving. Why are they leaving? what is their real problem?. It is submission. They don’t want to submit. Instead of understanding their true problem, they are throwing red herrings at people. What are red herrings? In logic, red herring is a fallacy which consists of diverting attention from the real issue by focusing instead on an issue having only a surface relevance to the first. Using a red herring, you divert the attention from the real issue to a minor issue.
Beth Moore’s problem is she does not want to submit to the Bible’s teaching on women’s role. Apostle Paul wrote,
But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.
1 Corinthians 11:3
God put an order in this world. The head of a wife is her husband. The head of every man is Christ.
The women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says.
1 Corinthians 14:34
The Bible is clear. Women should keep silent in the churches. They are not permitted to teach, they should be in submission. Some women say, ‘we are equal to men’. Yes, you are equal. This is nothing to do with equality.
Let me illustrate.
I want to run for the President of the United States of America. I went to a political party office and told them, I want to run for President of the United States on your party’s ticket. They look at me and say, As directed by the Constitution, a presidential candidate must be a natural born citizen of the United States, a resident for 14 years, and 35 years of age or older. Do you meet these qualifications? I might say, well, I have been a resident for 14 years, I am 43 years old, but I am not a citizen of the United States. They would say, ‘then you are not eligible to run for the President’. I might shout, “I am equal to any American’. Yes, I am equal but I am not eligible.
Don’t confuse those two: Equality and eligibility. Equality and eligibility are two different things. No one is questioning equality, so I cannot shout ‘racism’. Women should not shout ‘misogyny’. I may be an expert in governance, national security, economy, defense, education, healthcare. But still I do not qualify.
They are questioning my eligibility because the Constitution laid out certain qualifications to become the President of the United States. I can never run for the President. I need to accept that and ask God to show me where I can serve to the best of my abilities He created me with.
Beth Moore is demanding something similar from the Southern Baptist Convention. ‘I know the Bible in and out, from cover to cover, I know more than many men. I want to become a preacher or a pastor or a leader in your denomination’ I am equal to men, I can teach the Bible, I can sing, I can do a lot of things better than men’. They told her, ‘it is not about equality. You are equal. But you are not eligible because according to the Bible, this office is restricted to men.
Beth Moore should learn some submission, some humility, some obedience. Coming Meghan Markle. The Royal family is not perfect. They might have offended her. Instead of making a show for the whole world to see, she should have some humility and submission to elders. She says, ‘I am a waitress, actress, duchess, I am an independent woman.’ If you face discrimination, take it men in the Royal Family. Don’t take things into your hands. Meghan is giving a Jerry Springer show for the entire world to see. Prince Harry. I feel sorry for this guy.
When Princess Diana died, I cried because her two little boys have to grow up without a mother. I feel sorry for these two boys. Meghan is putting them through a lot of pain. In the Bible, we have the story of Ruth and Naomi. Naomi is the mother-in-law of Ruth. Naomi loves Ruth, Ruth loves Naomi. Ruth married Boaz and lived in obedience to Boaz. Love and submission are important in marriage. We are not seeing love and submission in Meghan Markle.
So, both Beth Moore and Meghan Markle. Their real problem is submission. John MacArthur bluntly told Beth Moore, ‘Go home’. I will be nice.
‘Beth, please go home and learn some humility and submission’
‘Meghan, please go home and learn some humility and submission’.
