Chris Pratt’s blockbuster movie Jurassic World is set for release tomorrow. On Monday night, he took the stage to accept MTV’s 2018 ‘Generation Award’. He shared his ‘9 rules’ for life’ in his acceptance speech. His ‘rules’ violate the core philosophies of life Hollywood has been propagating in recent decades.

“You have a soul, be careful with it.” The modern secularism and atheism preaches that you don’t have a soul. You are molecules in motion run by hormones and other chemicals. Your whole being will disintegrate after your death. There is no soul left, no God, no heaven, no hell. This philosophy is pushing our communities to hell in a hand basket.

“Reach out to someone in pain. Be of service. It feels good and it’s good for your soul”: Pain has redemptive value in Christian worldview. God uses even suffering to refine our character and soul. Hollywood has been promoting the message: Life’s main purpose is to pursuit happiness; Sad feelings, depression, pain and suffering are not good. Rely on drugs and tranquilizers to numb your pain.

“God is real, God loves you, God wants the best for you”: Modern secularists have been spreading the message that God is nothing but projection of our minds. He is not real. But God is real, as real as you and me.

“Like the freedom that we enjoy in this country, that grace was paid for with somebody else’s blood. Don’t forget that. Don’t take that for granted. God bless you all”: Hollywood enjoys freedom, but it fails to realize that freedom is not free. Someone paid for our freedom. Jesus paid for the freedom of our souls.

In the midst of God bashing coming from Hollywood, it is refreshing to hear Chris Pratt’s message: You have a soul and God loves you.
