Pakistan’s religious fanaticism and its impact on Christians

In 2011, Salmaan Taseer, the governor of Punjab Province was brutally murdered by his own bodyguard. The governor’s offense was to defend a Christian woman, Asia Bibi, who was accused of blaspheming Mohammad, the prophet of Islam.

Islamic sharia imposes death penalty on anyone who abuses the name of Mohammad. Pakistan incorporated this sharia law into its constitution and legislation and using it to suppress the freedom of speech and freedom of religion especially of Christian minorities.

Today Pakistan Supreme Court ruled in favor of Asia Bibi but I am skeptical of her security because Islamic groups already marked her back for murder.

May the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ shine upon Pakistan and its people.
